The Might Hunter. aka me, started my first
wildlife documentary in November 2004 as a
family adventure during a Boy Scout trip to Canada with my cousins Mike and Diane from our hometown of
Buffalo, New York. When we returned
with the images I had filmed, from St. Catherines and those of
the surrounding woods outside Buffalo, we were all amazed at what I
had captured—the permanence of life forever while being a guest to
wildlife in their real habitat world.
I needed to fill the walls of my Las
Vegas home with images of animal life I had grown up with. I had no
idea that being so homesick for my beloved upstate New York would
lead me to a profound life-changing journey where I could contribute
my passion to wildlife conservation.
A new adventure for me in
photography was born from that trip--seeking out wildlife by camera
in order to preserve God's creatures long after my time on Earth
will pass.
Having had cancer I cherish each day
as my last, with passion for life, respect for the living, honoring
those who have come and gone. Motoko Iwata from Japan is one special
person who will live forever in my heart. My dear friend did not
survive her cancer. Her three-year-old son will never grow up with
his mom by his side.
Though a real hunter may someday kill any one of
the wildlife animals I film, those creatures will be remembered in
visual imagery for future generations of people who care about
wildlife conservation. After all, they are someone's parent or
offspring too.
That's what Steve Irwin taught us.
There is a little bit
of the Croc Hunter in all of us. We don't have to become Mighty
Hunters... We only have to become involved. For me The Mighty Hunter
adventures are just beginning where Steve Irwin's left off... And
that's a good thing for us all.
PLEASE DONATE TO YOUR FAVORITE
WILDLIFE CHARITY, ANIMAL PLANET OR www.WILDWARRIORS.ORG.AU TO
CONTINUE THE WORK OF NOT ONLY STEVE IRWIN BUT OTHER WILDLIFE
CONSERVATIONISTS AS WELL.
We need animals in our lives for the betterment
of mankind. Not just for our own sake but for the sake of all living
creatures who share the existence on this planet we call Earth—our home.
